Municipal Primary School Phased Soundfield Expansion

A municipal education department expanded classroom audio from a 12-room pilot to 90 classrooms over two years, using a kit-based design that local electricians could install without AV specialists.
The Challenge
- The department had a limited annual budget and needed visible results in the first year.
- Installation labour was scarce, and contractors had to travel long distances between schools.
- Each school had slightly different classroom sizes and ceiling heights.
The Solution
- A 12-room pilot established three room templates — standard, large and combined — with a fixed bill of materials for each.
- KIT-PAS9 kits were used where no ceiling void existed; IR-S2 systems were used in rooms with ceiling access.
- Installation drawings were simplified to a single page per room type so local electricians could complete the work.
The Result
90classrooms over 2 years
3room templates
1day per classroom to install
The department now budgets classroom audio as a recurring line item rather than a one-off project, adding schools each year against the same three templates.
