Passive Speaker
Passive wall- and ceiling-mount classroom speakers, including models with built-in infrared sensors, for soundfield installations.
Passive speakers are selected by coverage pattern, sensitivity and the load they present to the amplifier. A classroom needs even speech coverage at conversational levels, not high output in one direction: ceiling speakers spaced across the room usually sound more natural than a single wall-mounted cabinet. Column speakers suit high-ceiling halls where sound must reach the back rows without becoming harsh at the front.
Confirm the amplifier’s rated impedance and power before mixing models, and check whether the installation uses low-impedance or 100 V distributed wiring. Some classroom speakers include an integrated infrared sensor, which can simplify a retrofit by combining two devices in one ceiling cut-out. Mounting depth, ceiling material and fire-rating requirements should be checked against the room drawing before the order is placed.
Speakers can be supplied as spares for an existing installation; matching the original model avoids changing the amplifier load. For new projects, send the room drawing and ceiling type and we will propose a speaker count and layout before quotation.
