Interactive Flat Panel Classroom Audio Retrofit

Sixty classrooms fitted with interactive flat panels had audio that was too quiet for the room. A classroom kit connected the panel’s audio output to wall speakers and added a wireless teacher microphone.
The Challenge
- Flat panel speakers were adequate for video but not for a teacher addressing 30 students.
- Panels were mounted on different wall types, so a single mounting solution would not fit every room.
- The retrofit had to be completed over one school holiday without touching the panel warranty.
The Solution
- KIT-DW-305 classroom kits were installed as a separate audio path, taking a line output from each panel.
- SP-16 wall speakers were mounted on adjustable brackets to suit concrete, drywall and mobile partition walls.
- The wireless microphone was paired to the kit rather than the panel, keeping the panel configuration untouched.
The Result
60classrooms retrofitted
5days on site
0panel settings changed
Teachers now have one microphone and one volume control for both the panel audio and their own voice. The school can add rooms to the same standard without revisiting the integration design.
