College Lecture Capture Audio Standardisation

A college standardised lecture capture audio across 14 theatres of different ages, replacing per-room ad-hoc microphone setups with one infrared-plus-USB design.
The Challenge
- Each theatre had been equipped at a different time, producing inconsistent recording levels.
- Some theatres had no lectern while others had a fixed position with no space for a microphone base.
- Support staff spent the first minutes of every recorded lecture adjusting gain.
The Solution
- DW-3315 systems were installed where a lectern existed, with USB audio to the capture appliance.
- IR-630H microphones were used in theatres without a lectern, with receivers feeding the same USB interface.
- A reference tone and fixed gain structure were set in every room so recordings start at a known level.
The Result
14theatres standardised
1gain structure across all rooms
0pre-lecture gain adjustments
Lecture recordings now arrive at consistent levels regardless of theatre, and support staff no longer attend the start of each recorded session.
