Nursing School Simulation Laboratory Audio

Twelve nursing simulation labs needed instructors to be heard clearly over patient simulators and equipment alarms while remaining hands-free for clinical demonstration.
The Challenge
- Simulators, monitors and alarms create a dense, unpredictable noise floor during scenarios.
- Instructors demonstrate procedures with both hands and cannot hold a microphone.
- Sessions are recorded for debrief, so the audio feed has to be clean and repeatable.
The Solution
- IR-520PT pendant microphones were issued to instructors, with controls accessible without removing the lanyard.
- IR-202 receivers were rack-mounted in each lab’s control room with a balanced output to the recording system.
- Ceiling speakers were retained and driven from the receiver, avoiding new cable runs into the simulation bays.
The Result
12simulation labs
100%hands-free instruction
1audio feed for debrief recording
Debrief recordings now carry the instructor’s commentary clearly above simulator noise, and students reviewing sessions can hear the guidance given during the scenario.
